Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of a Steelcase Migration SE standing desk?
Standing desks like Migration SE have been found to offer many benefits in the modern workplace, such as improved posture, reduced back pain, increased productivity and concentration, and improved overall health through changed posture and encouraged movement. The proper use of these desks can help prevent a more sedentary lifestyle in users who work in office environments, both hybrid and the home.
How do you raise a Migration SE desk?
Migration SE comes with an Up/Down controller. The Up/Down controller can be adjusted by either pressing the up button on the controller to raise the desk, or pressing the down button on the controller to lower the desk. (For safety reasons, the desk will only move while the button is pressed. For more information please refer to the Migration SE User Guide.)
How high should my standing desk be?
While standing desk height will vary by user, generally speaking the best height for a standing desk is at your resting elbow height. This allows you to comfortably use a desk without having to damage your posture (by placing it too low) or causing an unnatural neck position (by placing it too high). Experimentation with your Migration SE will yield the best results, but resting elbow height is typically considered the ideal.
How to measure desk fit:
Standing Desk Height - Place your feet flat on the floor. Maintain good posture and don't lock your knees. Position your arms so your forearms are parallel to the floor as if you were working at a desk. The distance from your wrists to the floor represents your standing resting elbow height and the correct position for the standing height of your desk.
Seated Desk Height - While sitting, place your feet flat on the floor. Sit with your back fully against a chair and ensure your thighs are parallel to the floor. Position your arms so your forearms are parallel to the floor as if you were working at a desk. The distance from your wrists to the floor represents your seated resting elbow height.
How do you assemble a Steelcase Migration SE desk?
